date knight

Saturday night Micah, Connor and I went to Chick fil a for dinner on a Date Knight.  It was a reservation only meal for mothers and sons.  We had a great time and Micah was very excited that there weren't going to be a lot of girls there.

They blocked off a part of the 'restaurant' and had tablecloths, centerpieces and menus.  They brought us our meal on real plates and everything!  They gave each boy a stuffed cow, balloon, shield to color and a coupon for a free Kid's meal.  Micah and Connor covered their shields with star wars pictures and Micah was very impressed with my drawing of Darth Vadar except for his light saber which apparently looked more like a bat to him.

They also gave the moms a special sheet with questions to ask your boys.  I thought it would be fun to share the questions and their answers with you.

Q.  Would you rather have super strength or the ability to fly?
M.  Fly and then I'd go to Florida.
C.  Fly and I wanna to to Alabama.

Q.  Would you rather be a spider for a week or an elephant for a year?
M.  An Elephant because they don't bite.
C.  A spider.
M.  You want to bite people Connor?
C.  No I want to be spy people!

Q.  Would you rather give up candy or ice cream forever?
M.  Candy cause I love ice cream.
C.  I like candy.  but I like ice cream too.

Q.  Would you rather live on the moon or underwater in the ocean?
M.  Underwater because then I can practice my swimming and wear my goggles.
C.  Under the water cause that's what George did.  (Curious George went scuba diving in an episode just fyi)

Q.  Would you rather wear a clown nose or clown shoes to school?
M.  ummm...I don't like any of those.
C.  Whats clowns?

After we ate and had dessert we hid from the dressed up cows who terrified Connor and then played on the play ground with a few friends who had reserve times around the same time as us.

sunday song

On Jordan's stormy banks I stand
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan's fair and happy land
Where my possessions lie

All o'er those wide extended plains
Shines one eternal day
There God, the Son forever reigns
And scatters night away.

I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land
I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land

No chilling wind nor poisonous breath
Can reach that healthful shore
Where sickness, sorrow, pain and death
Are felt and feared no more

I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land
I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land

When shall I see that happy place
And be forever blessed
When shall I see my Father's face
And in His bosom rest

I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land
I am bound, I am bound, I am bound for the Promise Land

*This is the song I used to hum/sing for Connor when he was a baby.  It has beautiful rhythm and he loved the peaceful flow.  Just so I remember years from now...Logan doesn't like the slowness of this one so Jesus Lover of My Soul's slightly quicker pace is his 'fave'.  Micah loves Lord (I love you Lord and I lift my voice...) and requested it every night from the time he was two so that is my nightly tradition when I sing to him and Connor before they go to sleep.  Their favorite line is take joy my King.  I'm not sure why but occasionally they ask me to repeat just that part :)

5 year old feet

5 year old feet

Baby feet get the most attention
but you my dear are worth a mention

I love how your feet never stop
until there's clay all over your socks

The adventure that these sweet feet see
make my heart smile as big as can be

I love their owner forever and a day
and pray His adventuring never stops as long as his heart stays.

Just fyi...I was an elementary ed major NOT an English major!

sunday song

During early babiness something happens to me that is not really a positive. While I treasure every smile, giggle, and milestone, I am usually exhausted physically, mentally and spiritually. I miss church quite often if I have to feed Logan or he's fussy since he's not quite old enough for nursery yet. Quiet time is hard to achieve in any kind of extended form as well at this stage because for me anyway there's not a lot of time where all three are boys are quiet except for bedtime and by then I want to go to bed too! This morning Zach left up his order of worship and slides and I caught a glimpse at this one. It's one of my all time favorites and not just because a beautifully voiced friend sang it at church frequently when we first started going to CCC. It's my favorite because it's a reminder of where real rest comes from. My Savior serves all my needs and REST is right at the top! Thank you Lord for giving me a dwelling place.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
"Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down,
Thy head upon My breast."
I came to Jesus as I was,
Weary and worn and sad;
I found in Him a resting-place,
And He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
"Behold, I freely give
The living water; thirsty one,
Stoop down and drink and live."
I came to Jesus, and I drank
Of that life-giving stream.
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
And now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
"I am this dark world's Light.
Look unto Me; thy morn shall rise
And all thy day be bright."
I looked to Jesus, and I found
In Him my Star, my Sun;
And in that Light of Life I'll walk
Till traveling days are done.

splash machine

Since he was born I've bathed Logan in his (borrowed) tub on top of my counter so that all is easy to reach. However, after last weeks escapades his tub has been banned to the floor of our tub.  The reason would be because this little fella has become a splashing machine!!!!  There was a waterfall from my counter to my floor due to the intense baby waves Logan was making.  He loves holding a wash cloth during his bath and kept 'dropping' it in the water in front of him and then retrieving it, but not in a delicate fashion.  Zach compared it to a grizzly bear fishing in a river.  Just one giant paw pounding at the water in hopes it came back with the prize in hand!

5 months

Logan is 5 months old today!  I have not been able to get Franc's (the wedding planner) voice out of my head today.  "Uh oh dat's five months!"

Sweet, snuggly, smiley Logi Bear...

*has had cereal twice.  The first time he put up with it.  The second time he was starting to become a fan.
*rolled over from front to back a few times.
*can sit up with assistance and can balance by himself for about 30 seconds.
*is going through a bad sleeping phase the past week or so. He's napping for 20-30 minutes at a time and has started waking up numerous times a night.  Since even as a new born he was only up once maybe twice this is NOT my favorite.  I'm really really hoping it's a short phase!
*chews on stuff constantly which makes me think he'll get teeth before his brothers or is in for a long teething period.
*smiles at anyone who comes up to talk to him.  He also smiles at anyone who talks to the person holding him assuming they are only they for the baby anyway!
*can't sit in his bouncy seat anymore because he tries to roll out of it but is starting to love the johnny jumper and excersaucer.  He played in his excersaucer for almost 45 minutes while we were eating the other day!

sunday song

Today's song is in honor of Connor.  This is his current favorite church song.  One afternoon in the car he asked me to play Oh My God.  I was a little taken aback at the beginning but considering he's two I was pretty sure he wasn't attempting to take the Lord's name in vain.  After asking Zach, my musical dictionary, we figured out this was his song.  I've taught him the chorus and he sings it so adorably at the TOP of his lungs!

Always
Kristian Stanfill

My foes are many, they rise against me
But I will hold my ground
I will not fear the war, I will not fear the storm
My help is on the way, my help is on the way

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always

Troubles surround me, chaos abounding
My soul will rest in You
I will not fear the war, I will not fear the storm
My help is on the way, my help is on the way

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always

I lift my eyes up, my help comes from the Lord
I lift my eyes up, my help comes from the Lord
I lift my eyes up, my help comes from the Lord
I lift my eyes up, my help comes from the Lord
From You Lord, from You Lord

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always, always

han solo

Not to be left out of the star wars dress up Connor chose to be his favorite, Han Solo.  This is, in Connor's opinion, the many faces and personality of Han.

easter day

We've had some busy days lately!  Which just continues to make me think about my word and the utter failure of slowing down!  Our busy times this weekend came from the amazing blessing of celebrating our Savior's death on the cross Friday night, an intimate family wedding Saturday and then the Resurrection today.

We got in late last night from Gainesville so the boys woke up late this morning.  That just meant that Zach had already left for church and didn't get to be a part of our Easter basket fun.  His family always hid their baskets so we tried it this year and the boys loved it!  They stood in the hall until I said go and then raced around the living room to find there goodies.  We don't really bother with an Easter Bunny so they know we bought everything as a surprise for them and were beyond excited.  Zach was filled in quite quickly and loudly I might add as soon as we got to church :)

Connor's Basket- gummy worms (ode to papa), yoda figure, light saber and The Little Rascal
s which seemed very fitting for him ;)
Micah's basket- gummy worms, Anakin figure, light saber and Angels in the Outfield.  He's been wanting to watch a baseball movie so badly since he started playing but most are still too old for him.  I was so excited when I remembered this movie!

on your mark, get set, GO!

The look I got when he saw his light saber!

He found it!
Easter is a hard day for us to be with family since Zach is the worship leader at our church. Thankfully the friends we have here are just like family and we have had our Easter dinner with them the past few years.  Steph cooked her yummo chicken, Leslie brought delicious sides and I was blessed with the task of just handling bread since we were having a heck of a weekend already!  The kids played and played and hunted eggs too while we watched the kiddos, the Masters, talked and even got to eat in semi peace and quiet :)

waiting for the go ahead
