sunday song

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

3rd birthday party

Micah loves playing all kinds of instruments so for his 3rd birthday we thought it would be fun to have a Kindermusik party. I found a teacher online and she came to do a 45 minute music lesson with the kids at the beginning of his party. Micah tends to take awhile warming up to new things and new people but he had no troubles warming up to this. The minute she pulled a drum out of her instrument box she won his heart. The kids (and parents) had a great time playing different instruments, singing songs and doing some movements.

After the music we ate red drum cake and opened presents. Micah got some new clothes, movies, Cars cars, some sports stuff, a walking dinosaur (that's not 'cary') and a blue beta fish. It was a GREAT day and we are so thankful for all of our family and friends who could come to celebrate with him!

ringling bros.

Oracle (not from the Matrix) provided free tickets to Ringling Brothers to the companies that use their products so Zach, Micah and I got to go to our first ever circus for free this past weekend! We got to go on the floor before it started (but so did everyone else), sit in party suites and get free food. THANKS ORACLE!

Micah was very excited about going to the circus because we told him there would be elephants there. He's a big fan of elephants. He loved watching the animals, liked watching the people do tricks and HATED when people were shot out of the cannon. It was loud and he does not like loud. The poor boy kept crying until we took him walking around in the back hallways to get some downtime. It probably didn't help that the circus was smack dab in the middle of nap time!

Overall it was really fun but we probably won't go back until both of the boys are a little older so they can enjoy it a little more.

There's Asia.

He took a picture with me!!!

Gotta love those Elephants

Headstand on the tightrope. I almost couldn't watch!

jam session

Zach got Micah an acoustic guitar for his birthday. Technically it's a red ukelele with the Hawaiian stickers pulled off but it's the perfect size for Micah. He absolutely LOVED it and immediately wanted Zach to get out his guitar so they could play together. It was too cute seeing them play together. Micah kept moving them around too. He'd say 'let's play on the little couch' then 'ok let's stand up now'. Zach started getting excited about the potential of Micah as a budding guitarist but I promise we will not be going nuts assuming he will be a child prodigy!

3!

My baby is 3...3!! I think this has been the quickest year thus far. I have already cried once today. Micah was talking on the phone to Zach and it was just the sweetest, most grown up conversation. Ugh. I am such a sap! I did a little interview with Micah the other day while he was painting. I just asked "what's your favorite..." and he without hesitation answered. So I want to share with you all the things he loves most.

*favorite food- chicken and fries
*favorite snack- fruit fracks
*favorite drink- white milk
*favorite movie- blue woody movie and red woody movie
*favorite tv show- monkey
*favorite toy- cars. lightning aqueen and doc
*favorite thing to do- build a line and a road
*favorite color- red and blue and green (seriously though he's kind of obsessed with red)
*favorite friends- bella and haley
*favorite animal- elephant and maybe a giraffe

Now for the things I love most about this little boy.

I love...
*that you are a little OCD about things. It drives me crazy but is cool to see that you know your own mind.
*the way you get stuck on words when you talk. You get so excited about what you want to say you can't always get it out the first time.
*that you have no fear when it comes to jumping off your bed but are still afraid of the vacuum.
*your goofy voices. I'm not sure where they come from sometimes but they never fail to make me laugh.
*that you genuinely love your brother and want to make him smile and laugh.
*your memory even when it comes back to bite me sometimes!
*the way you ask questions even though you already know the answer just to hear it again.
*that your interests grow broader every day and that you are becoming more brave to trying new things.
*that you can't pronounce any word that begins with s. I know you'll grow out of it one day but for now I like that you say tickers, tow, towman, cared, and cary!
*the way you lay in your bed to finish 'cratchin' your blanket before you get out of bed.

I love you Micah May. You are a precious boy and I am proud to be your mama!!

valentine's party

Micah's Valentine's party was yesterday and I have to admit this time the party was great! They did several easy for 2 year olds crafts, played some fun games, and had some yummy heart shaped (of course) snacks. I gotta admit that I love celebrating Valentine's Day with kids. I think it's because there is only one meaning. Christmas and Easter are difficult because the meaning of them is God centered but they can get overshadowed by the secular side of Santa and the Easter Bunny. This makes it difficult to keep kids completely focused on the true meaning. With Valentine's Day you don't have to worry about it. All you do is tell those people you love that you love them. Simple.

The first craft was to make a Prince or Princess heart crown.

This cutie finished hers first and then came over to tell me that when Micah was done he could be her prince. The future could be trouble!

Next we decorated bags to put their cards in. Micah was determined to take the backing off the 'tickers' by himself.

He does such a good job.

To test out the strength of the bag he wore it as a hat. It passed the test.

Then they put more stickers on foam hearts. He said this heart was for his daddy.

After a couple of games they sat down to their heart shaped feast. If you look at the plate you will see a homemade and home decorated heart cookie. They were YUMMY! I was in charge of plates and napkins. They're cute too :)

I had a great time hanging out with my little Valentine for a few hours. He could not wait to come home and show Zach all his 'tuff' that he got. He's carried the bag around non stop since yesterday afternoon.

art machine

One of Micah's current favorite activities is coloring and painting. He specifically likes watercolors and markers and after one minor coloring on the walls incident he does quite well with both.

But seriously he's an art machine. He can crank those puppies out fast. I should have bought stock in Crayola. (warning: do not buy roseart watercolor paint. SOOOOOOO not worth the savings). I do not have a problem throwing away artwork from preschool. Especially the ones that I KNOW he did not make on his own. In 15 years I don't want to go back through his stuff and think 'didn't Micah's teachers do a great job on this!' But, I can not bare to throw away these creations. I am watching him with my own eyes putting it all together and seeing how proud he is at the finished product and it just melts my little ol' heart. This means that I now have a two inch stack of artwork just sitting there. HMMMMM...what to do?

I can't wait to show you what I (with Micah's help) did to recycle his precious pictures into more craftiness!

nine months

Connor is nine months today. I can't believe that in three more months he will be 1! This past month Connor has...

* been sick a lot :( We've had a bad cold running around the house.
* lost his squishy nickname :( He's gotten so tall that he's starting to thin out and get a toddlerish face. I don't like it one bit!
* beginning to wave. Sometimes at the right time and a lot of times at the wrong time!
* claps two toys together, but not hands yet.
* still talks a lot and is learning new sounds. He has Da Da Da Da down pretty well which makes Zach happy.
* refused to drink formula. We tried once a day for a week and he would have none of it. Guess my parts are still in business for at least a little while longer.
* inconsistently sleeps through the night. yay!
* very very very mobile and will get into and eat anything (on the floor). We've had to get quite an assortment of things out of his mouth. I seriously don't know where he finds half of the stuff. This has started frustrating Micah a little because now Connor can get his cars. Micah could careless about Connor touching somethings but he DOES NOT like someone messing with his cars!

tunnel love

Yesterday we got out the tunnel set that Micah got for Christmas a few years ago. It has been awhile because we weren't sure how Connor would handle it. Micah was excited to play in it again and Connor LOVED it. He picked one tunnel and one box and crawled in and out of it over and over. Isabella and William were here too so of course Micah and Bella created weird games to play with it and William kept attacking it and falling on top of it (not really a big surprise).
